YORI CAFE: bottled matcha with YORI CAFE labels in a fridge door

Overview

YORI CAFE is a concept matcha cafe branding project for a café that serves one thing and serves it well: premium matcha, crafted in the mountains of Uji.

The identity is written by hand, the way you might trace a name in fresh matcha powder, and dressed in the soft greens of the tea itself.

Challenge

Matcha has become a crowded category. Most matcha brands borrow the same look: Japanese brush strokes, bamboo and gold, or the clean minimalism of a wellness label. YORI needed to feel premium without feeling distant, and to stand out on a busy shelf as easily as on a takeaway cup.

Solution

We built the identity around a hand-drawn matcha logo: soft, rounded letters that look written rather than set, with a small whisk and bowl beside the word CAFE. It has the warmth of something made by hand and stays legible from a shopfront sign down to a tin lid.

The palette is taken straight from the tea: a deep matcha green for the wordmark, pale sage for the packaging and an off-white that lets the green breathe. The same quiet tones run through everything, so the range reads as one family.

The matcha packaging is where the brand lives most: stacked tins, a gift box tied with string, a TAKE MATCHA gift set with whisk, scoop and bowl, bottled matcha and a matcha liqueur. Outside, the kiosk carries the logo on a soft green fascia above a simple pick-up window.

Conclusion

YORI CAFE shows how a matcha cafe can feel both premium and personal. A hand-written logo, a palette taken from the tea itself and packaging made to be kept give the brand a calm, confident presence across every touchpoint.
